Make A Change
Mark Khamboonphet - Owner / Head Coach
I instantly fell in love with CrossFit from my very first workout. It reminded me of high school athletics. It also fueled my need for some sort of competition. Every workout is a competition. You're racing everyone in the class or you might just be racing the clock. There's nothing else like it out there! After doing CrossFit for a couple of years, I stepped further down the rabbit hole and became a coach. It was completely different than just being an athlete in the classes. I got to see and learn so much more. Sure, its amazing to watch the elite athletes compete but for me its just as cool to watch someone being able to do their first pull up or handstand pushup. For me it's just really rewarding to watch people do things they thought they would never be able to do. I want to help everyone do that.

I joined CrossFit in August 2009 after becoming tired with traditional gyms. I wanted something to challenge and motivate me. I found that in the first CrossFit workout I ever did. Crossfit gave me a way to not only keep in shape, but constantly challenge myself. In April 2012 I decided to get my coaching certificate, so that I could help others find that motivation and challenge.

I started CrossFit in 2010 when I first walked in I thought “there is no way I could ever get on that bar and do a pull up” The first work out was rough, I was so sore but I wanted more. I love that it was all planned out for me. I would go to a normal gym and wonder around for hours and never really know what I was doing. The CrossFit coaches were so great at programming all the works outs, the workouts were for a bigger purpose not just to work on one muscle. All of the movements in CrossFit seemed so difficult at first but I wanted to master them and become stronger inside and out. I think CrossFit gave me the confidence to become the person I always wanted to be, but never knew how to find her. I feel I am healthier and stronger now than I ever was in my early twenties I have competed in several competitions including the Open and have love seeing my improvement every year. Not only did CrossFit help me to become a stronger more confident person it led me to the love of my life and I couldn't be more thankful for that!!

I started Crossfit in 2016 and immediately fell in love with it. I had been weight training at your average gym for a while but knew I needed something different to reach my full potential. That's exactly what I found when I joined Crossfit Forney. I have never been stronger, faster or healthier in my life. As someone who comes from a long line of obesity and disordered eating I knew I wanted something different and better for my 3 children. Between the incredible members and coaching staff I have learned how to be the healthier version of myself and have lost almost 100lbs! I knew pretty quickly I wanted to be in the business of helping others like myself change their lives and so I became a coach in 2018. Since then I have had the pleasure of helping my friends learn new skills, lift heavier weights and even feel confident enough to start competing. I'm excited to continue my journey as a coach and athlete and continue to learn new ways every day how to become better at both.

I joined CrossFit in 2013. I quickly fell in love with the sport and let it change my life. The programming and community are second to none. I began competing and got into the best shape of my life shortly after. I was invited to get my L1 and become a coach in 2015, and was able to start sharing my love and knowledge of fitness. I took a couple years off to have children, and now as a mother of two I’m excited to begin again and continue to spread the joy!

My fitness journey began in 2017 when I weighed nearly 300 pounds. At the time, I was living for myself and the weekends, but with my second son on the way (and now a proud father of three), I realized I was tired of leading an unhealthy lifestyle. I wanted to be the kind of dad who could keep up with his kids, engage in all the “dad things,” and set a positive example.
So, I made a change. I joined Anytime Fitness, cleaned up my diet, and significantly reduced my alcohol intake. Within a year, I had lost 100 pounds! My very first workout was Murph, and from that moment, I was hooked.
Between 2018 and today, I’ve participated in countless competitions and haven’t looked back. CrossFit has become a huge part of my life—it’s not just fitness; it’s a passion. This year, I decided to take the next step and fulfill a long-held dream of becoming a coach.
I want to show people that CrossFit truly is for everyone. The incredible coaching, programming, and community at CrossFit Forney have become my second home, and I want to help others experience the same transformation I did. My mission is to inspire individuals and prove that they’re capable of achieving any challenge they face, both in the gym and in life.
As I like to always say: “It’s better to be an instrument than an ornament.” Let’s get to work!
